Change File Permission in Windows

If you are windows vista user then you will be knowing the file ownership and permissions related issues and now it is extended to windows 7 too, but Windows XP

users experimenting with Windows 7 might not know about this.

Windows 7 has implemented addition security mechanism to prevent accidental or intentional file or folder modification by not allowing users other then owner of file or folder to access it. Hence incase if you need to access, modify or delete such files or folder you need to take ownership first then assign rights or permission to respective users. Here is Guide on How to take Ownership and Grant Permission in Window 7.

How to Take Ownership in Windows 7

1. Locate the file or folder on which you want to take ownership in windows explorer

2. Right click on file or folder and select “Properties” from Context Menu

3. Click on Security tab

4. Click on “Advance”

5. Now click on Owner tab in Advance Security Settings for User windows

6. Click on Edit Button and select user from given Change Owner to list if user or group is not in given list then click on other users or groups. Enter name of user/group and click ok.

8. Now select User/group and click apply and ok. (Check “Replace owner on subcontainers and objects” if you have files and folder within selected folder)

9. Click ok when Windows Security Prompt is displayed

10. Now Owner name must have changed.

11. Now click Ok to exist from Properties windows

Once you have taken the ownership of file or folder next part comes is Granting Permissions to that file/folder or object.

How to Grant Permissions in Windows 7

1. Locate the file or folder on which you want to take ownership in windows explorer

2. Right click on file or folder and select “Properties” from Context Menu

3. Click on Edit button in Properties windows Click ok to confirm UAC elevation request.

4. Select user/group from permission windows or click add to add other user or group.

5. Now under Permission section check the rights which you want to grant i.e check “Full Control” under the “Allow” column to assign full access rights control permissions to Administrators group.

6. Click Ok for changes to take effect and click ok final ok to exit from Properties window.

Now you can access files of folder in windows 7 with full permissions and take full control. Here is another simplest method to take ownership,

t was a colourful and heartfelt send off for the Indian cricket team embarking on their World Cup mission, as Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan voiced the feelings of scores of countrymen, advising the Men in Blue to "do your best and leave the rest."

"I don’t know a lot about sports, but I do know that it is not about winning and losing. It is about the belief that every sportsman has and the effort they put in. I just want to say to Rahul (Dravid) and the boys, that they should just do their best and leave the rest," SRK told almost the entire cricket team, including captain Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar, at a function in Mumbai on Tuesday.

The function was organised by soft drinks major Pepsi on the eve of the team's departure for the West Indies.

As some of India's top artistes including Shankar Mahadevan and Adnan Sami performed some foot-tapping numbers for the scores of fans gathered at the venue, actress Priyanka Chopra also put in an appearance to wish the team all the success in Caribbean.

Standing next to Dravid on stage, SRK even apologised to the team on behalf of the media, saying, "Sometimes we may have said rude and demeaning things about the team when they lose, but let me tell you that we take it all back. We love you and we hope you bring back the World Cup."

Looking dapper in a blue India T-shirt, Dravid thanked SRK and scores of fans for the wishes saying "these wishes of a billion people will definitely help us in the World Cup when we go out and do our best."

Other members of the Indian team tapping and moving to the beats of the songs were Virender Sehwag, Yuvraj Singh, Tendulkar and S Sreesanth.

Cheering the team on, SRK inquired Yuvraj Singh's fitness and told Sehwag "to rock with his bat".

The tone of the event was set by the music director trio of Shankar Ehsan Loy who played some of their most popular tracks including Mitwa ( Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna ), 'Suno Gaur Se Duniya Waalo' and 'Tainu Le Ke Main Jaaonga' from Salaam-e-Ishq .

"We are playing this song especially for the team because we hope the lyrics of the song come true and we bring back the World Cup trophy," Shankar said.

Adnan Sami brought the podium alive with the Pepsi 2003 World Cup anthem, "Ae Aaa O" and some of his other chartbusters.

Scores of fans and curious onlookers had assembled at the venue to catch a glimpse of some of the country's biggest icons.

New Delhi, Sept. 23 (PTI): Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, business tycoon Vijay Mallya and BCCI Vice President Rajeev Shukla will join hundreds of fans to cheer for Team India when Mahendra Singh Dhoni and his men take on Pakistan in the final of the Twenty20 cricket World Cup in Johannesburg tomorrow.

Shah Rukh, who played a hockey coach in his latest release "Chak De India", earlier made a surprise visit to the India-England third Test at The Oval last month.

Shah Rukh, Mallya and Shukla will leave tonight by the liquor baron's private jet.

"We will root for the Indian team, which has made us proud by its commendable show. An India-Pakistan match is always a humdinger and we are going to enjoy every bit of it," said Shukla.

Though he was impressed at the energy and enthusiasm of the young team, in an exclusive chat with me, he said that winning the World Cup did not mean this was the best team India had ever had.

me: It must have been a great experience watching the final of the World T20 Championship, what with India winning the World Cup after so many years.

Shah Rukh Khan: It was absolutely wonderful. I am lucky that I could participate in the history-making piece of sportsmanship that the team has shown and I congratulate the team. I am so happy that I could make it and we won, especially against a well-deserving opponent like Pakistan, which also played wonderfully.

me: Do you think that this new team has brought in a totally fresh new look to Indian cricket?

Shah Rukh Khan: Let's not jump to conclusions so fast. They are all great players, but we have always had great players in our team. The BCCI has always made sure that there is a great team playing. However, the fact is that you win some and you lose some, but when you win some, it does not mean that this is the greatest team and when we lose some, it does not mean that it is the worst team!

But this is a great team. On good days we performed very well and we have had a great spell of cricket these last two weeks. Hopefully the form will continue. And I say that this set of guys is very energetic and they have a great belief in winning and that is good spirit.

me: What do you think of the Chak De... factor across sub-continental cricket?

Shah Rukh Khan: I keep telling everyone that the movie does not inspire people. Real heroes like the Indian cricket team which just won the World T20 Championship inspire people.

I am glad that this film of mine came when we are doing so well in football, cricket and hockey. All I would like to say is thank you for giving us more chances to make more movies on real heroes like the Indian cricket team.

Over at HighContrast blog, Simeon Simeonov of Polaris Venture Partner unveiled more information about the potential GPhone. The Google Phone (codename “Switch”), will apparantly be a BlackBerry-like device running C++ at the OS’ core. According to Simeon’ sources, the GPhone will also run an optimized Java, and will have a VoIP capabilities.

This latest information contradicts the leaked photo of Google Phone, published by Engadget earlier this year, where we see an iPhone-like device, without any keyboard.

Also in the news, Google’s Eric Schmidt said that Google and Apple are working together on “many more” new projects. Schmidt also added that two companies are “doing more and more things together. We have similar goals, similar competitors.” You can only imagine the amount of buzz these words generated…

It’s very hard to predict whether GPhone will actually be released. At this point, it’s all about speculation. Google would certainly find the way to make money on such device. Even if they’re working on it, all “leaked” specs of the future device, are everything but trustworthy. If you remember, we had the similar situation with the iPhone. Many details were unveiled by “trusted sources.” At the end, not very much of that was true.

Chak De India based on real life story of Mir Negi

Negi was the hockey goalkeeper of the Indian team during the Asian Games 1982. During the Asian games, India faced a defeat with the score of 1-7 against Pakistan. This was a humiliating experience for Negi. Later in his life, Negi coached the National Womens hockey team and the team went on to win Gold at the Manchester Commonwealth games. Chak De India is said to have a similar storyline and SRK seems to be portraying Negis character in the film. Interestingly, Shah Rukh sports slight stubble in the film which resembles Negis look.

Mir Ranjan Negi however remains tightlipped about the film and does not let out details but confirms that the film is based on his life. In fact, it is said that Negi had also accompanied Chak De India unit to Australia to guide them on the hockey field during the shoot. Shah Rukh, a college level hockey player himself, also didnt take long to pick up the game.

Chak De India is directed by Shimit Amin whose last film was Ab Tak Chhappan. The film stars Shah Rukh Khan and Vidya Malvade along with a group of debutante girls who are part of the hockey team. The first promotional music video of the film will be released during the screening of Jhoom Barabar Jhoom.

ping : This command will allow you to know if the host you pinging is alive, which means if it is up at the time of executing the "ping" command.

ping x.x.x.x (x is the IP address)

or

ping www.whatever.com (www.whatever.com is the website you want to ping, but you don't know the IP)

OBS: Keep in mind that if the host you pinging is blocking ICMP packets, then the result will be host down.

nslookup : This command has many functionalities.
One is for resolving DNS into IP.
Lets say you know the website URL but you don't know its IP(and you want to find out).

Now, another really nice function of nslookup is to find out IP of specific Mail Severs.

OBS: This command is good to know the route a packet takes before it goes to the target box.

Getting Ip's:--

To see the ip all computers you are connected to (web servers, people attempting to hack into your computer).
Go to dos (start>run>type command) and run the netstat command. Type netstat /? for details.

Type netstat -r at the command prompt to see the ip of all computers you are connected to

In MSN (and other programs) when you are chatting to someone everything you type goes through the MSN servers first (they act as a proxy) so you see their ip rather than who you are chatting to. You can get round this by sending them a file as MSN doesn't send file through its proxy.
When you type the netstat -r (or -a for a different view) the ip's are under the foreign address table. The ports are seperated by a : . Different programs use different ports, so you can work out which ip's are from which program.
Connecting to other computers and what ports are:--

Servers send information. Clients retrieve. Simple.
Windows comes with a built in program to connect to other computers called telnet.
To start Windows telnet Start menu> Run> type Telnet. Click connect> remote system
Ports are doors into computers. Hosts are computer names
(ip number or a name that is translated into the ip automatically)
Different programs open different ports, but they always open the same ports so other computers know which port to connect to. You can get a port list listing all the different ports, but a basic one is:
11 :- Sends info on the computer
21 :- FTP (File transfer program)
23 :- Telnet (Login to the computers command line)
25 :- Smtp (Sends mail)
80 :- Http (Web pages)
There are thousands of different programs using different ports. You can get programs called portscanners which check a computer for all ports up to a certain number, looking for ways in. You can portscan a computer looking for ways-in.
Anyway, back to telnet.
Type http://www.yahoo.com/ as the host and port as 80 the click connect.
If nothing happens, you're in. Wow. You are connected to Yahoo's server.

You can now type http commands (you are connected to an http server, so it supports http commands). Ie. on an ftp server you can type open and it will do something. On an http server it will just wonder what the hell you are on about.
Type get / http/1.0 then press enter twice to get the file on the server at / (try /index.html) etc.)
Allowing dos and regedit in a restricted Windows

By holding down alt, then typing numbers on the number pad (right of the keyboard) you can create special characters. If you hold down alt, then press 1, then let go, you got the ascii character 1. You try some randomn numbers. This goes all the way up to 255. Open a dos prompt, and type md (alt+1+9+4)someword. md is the dos command to make a directoy, now try and open the directory in Windows, you can't. To open it, type ren (alt+1+9+4)someword someword (ren is the dos command to rename)

Proxies are computers that you connect through, hiding your computer. Most aren't anonymous, they give away your ip. Some are. Good anonymous proxies: mail.uraltelecom.ru:8080 and 194.247.87.4:8080.
Different programs require different ways of using proxies. To do it in internet explorer 5 go to tools, internet options, connections, settings. In the above proxies they are in the format host:port

How to Use Telnet on a Windows Computer

Telnet is great little program for doing a couple of interesting things. In fact, if you want to call yourself a hacker, you absolutely MUST be able to telnet! In this lesson you will find out a few of the cool things a hacker can do with telnet.
If you are using Win95, you can find telnet in the c:\windows directory, and on NT, in the c:\winnt\system32 directory. There isn't a lot of online help concerning the usage of the program, so my goal is to provide some information for new users.
First off, telnet isn't so much an application as it is a protocol. Telnet is protocol that runs over TCP/IP, and was used for connecting to remote computers. It provides a login interface, and you can run command-line programs by typing the commands on your keyboard, and the programs use the resources of the remote machine. The results are displayed in the terminal window on your machine, but the memory and CPU cycles consumed by the program are located on the remote machine. Therefore, telnet functions as a terminal emulation program, emulating a terminal on the remote machine.
Now, telnet runs on your Win95 box as a GUI application...that is to say that you can type "telnet" at the command prompt (in Windows 95 this is the MS-DOS prompt), and assuming that your PATH is set correctly, a window titled "telnet" will open. This differs from your ftp program in that all commands are entered in the DOS window.
Let's begin by opening telnet. Simply open a DOS window by clicking "start", then "programs", then "MS-DOS", and at the command prompt, type:
c:\telnet
The window for telnet will open, and you can browse the features of the program from the menu bar.

These will only work if the server to which you are trying to connect is running these services. However, you are not limited to just those ports...you can type in any port number you wish. (For more on fun ports, see the GTMHH, "Port Surf's Up.") You will only successfully connect to the port if the service in question is available. What occurs after you connect depends upon the protocol for that particular service.
When you are using telnet to connect to the telnet service on a server, you will (in most cases) be presented with a banner and a login prompt.
[Note from Carolyn Meinel: Many people have written saying their telnet program fails to connect no matter what host they try to reach. Here's a way to fix your problem. First -- make sure you are already connected to the Internet. If your telnet program still cannot connect to anything, here's how to fix your problem. Click "start" then "settings" then "control panel." Then click "Internet" then "connection." This screen will have two boxes that may or may not be checked. The top one says "connect to the Internet as needed." If that box is checked, uncheck it -- but only uncheck it if you already have been having problems connecting. Now, you can also use telnet to connect to other ports, such as
ftp (21), smtp (25), pop3 (110), and even http (80). When you
connect to ftp, smtp, and pop3, you will be presented with a
banner, or a line of text that displays some information about the

running on the host computer, or it may come right out and tell
you what the operating system is...for instance, AIX, Linux,
Solaris, or NT. If you successfully connect to port 80, you will
see a blank screen. This indicates, again, that you have successfully completed the TCP negotiation and you have a connection.
Now, what you do from there is up to you. You can simply disconnect with the knowledge that, yes, there is a service running on port 80, or you can use your knowledge of the HTTP protocol to retrieve the HTML source for web pages on the server.
How to Download Web Pages Via Telnet
To retrieve a web page for a server using telnet, you need to connect to that server on port 80, generally. Some servers may use a different port number, such as 8080, but most web servers run on port 80. The first thing you need to do is click on Terminal -> Preferences and make sure that there is a check in the Local Echo box. Then, since most web pages will generally take up more than a single screen, enable logging by clicking Terminal -> Start Logging... and select a location and filename. Keep in mind that as long as logging is on, and the same file is being logged to, all new information will be appended to the file, rather than overwriting the
original file. This is useful if you want to record several sessions, and edit out the extraneous information using Notepad.
Now, connect the remote host, and if your connection is successful, type in:
GET / HTTP/1.0
and hit enter twice.

Boost Extreme Speed to your BroadBand Connection..
A. in the "My Network Places" properties (right click on the desktop icon and choose properties), highlight the connection then at the menu bar choose "Advanced" then "Advanced Settings". Uncheck the two boxes in the lower half for the bindings for File and Printer sharing and Client for MS networks. Click OK
B. Continue as indicated below steps:
1. from the Windows XP CD in the support directory from the support cab, extract the file netcap.exe and place it in a directory on your hard drive or even in the root of your C:\ drive.
2. next, open up a command prompt window and change directories to where you put netcap.exe then type "netcap/?". It will list some commands that are available for netcap and a netmon driver will be installed. At the bottom you will see your adapters. You should see two of them if using a 3Com card. One will be for LAN and the other will be for WAN something or other.
3. Next type "netcap/Remove". This will remove the netmon driver.
4. Open up control panel / system / dev man and look at your network adapters. You should now see two of them and one will have a yellow ! on it. Right click on the one without the yellow ! and choose uninstall. YES! you are uninstalling your network adapter, continue with the uninstall. Do not restart yet.
5. Check your connection properties to make sure that no connection exists. If you get a wizard just cancel out of it.
6. Now restart the machine and go to your connection properties again and you should have a new connection called "Local area connection 2". highlight the connection then at the menu bar choose "Advanced" then "Advanced Settings". Uncheck the two boxes in the lower half for the bindings for File and Printer sharing and Client for MS networks. Click OK.
8. Choose connection properties and uncheck the "QOS" box
9. Restart the machine and enjoy the increased responsiveness of IE, faster page loading, and a connection speed boost...

step 1.Type "about:config" into the address bar and hit enter. Scroll down and look for the following entries:

network.http.pipelining

network.http.proxy.pipelining

Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time. When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really speeds up page loading.

2. Alter the entries as follows:

Set "network.http.pipelining" to "true"

Set "network.http.proxy.pipelining" to "true"

Set "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests " to some number like 30. This means it will make 30 requests at once.

3. Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer. Name it "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" and set its value to "0". This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it receives.

Not that it doesn’t completely go without saying, but whenever you start hacking any battery-powered portable device, you need to freaking be careful. Otherwise you might end up like dude here who was pulling a Geohot on his iPhone when short circuited and became red hot, releasing the magic smoke hither locked inside the device’s electronics. Sony Develops "Bio Battery" Generating Electricity from Sugar
- Achieves world's highest power output for passive-type bio batteries -

TOKYO, August 23, 2007- Sony today announced the development of a bio battery¹ that generates electricity from carbohydrates (sugar) utilizing enzymes as its catalyst, through the application of power generation principles found in living organisms.

Test cells of this bio battery have achieved power output of 50 mW, currently the world's highest level² for passive-type³ bio batteries. The output of these test cells is sufficient to power music play back on a memory-type Walkman.

In order to realize the world's highest power output, Sony developed a system of breaking down sugar to generate electricity that involves efficiently immobilizing enzymes and the mediator (electronic conduction materials) while retaining the activity of the enzymes at the anode. Sony also developed a new cathode structure which efficiently supplies oxygen to the electrode while ensuring that the appropriate water content is maintained. Optimizing the electrolyte for these two technologies has enabled these power output levels to be reached.

Sugar is a naturally occurring energy source produced by plants through photosynthesis. It is therefore regenerative, and can be found in most areas of the earth, underlining the potential for sugar-based bio batteries as an ecologically-friendly energy device of the future.

Sony will continue its development of immobilization systems, electrode composition and other technologies in order to further enhance power output and durability, with the aim of realizing practical applications for these bio batteries in the future.

The research results presented here have been accepted as an academic paper at the 234th American Chemical Society National Meeting & Exposition in Boston, MA USA, and were announced at 11 am local time on August 22, 2007.

		The bio battery mechanism

The newly developed bio battery incorporates an anode consisting of sugar-digesting enzymes and mediator, and a cathode comprising oxygen-reducing enzymes and mediator, either side of a cellophane separator. The anode extracts electrons and hydrogen ions from the sugar(glucose) through enzymatic oxidation as follows:
Glucose -> Gluconolactone + 2 H⁺ + 2 e^-
The hydrogen ion migrates to the cathode through the separator. Once at the cathode, the hydrogen ions and electrons absorb oxygen from the air to produce water:
(1/2) O₂ + 2 H⁺ + 2 e^- -> H₂O
Through this process of electrochemical reaction, the electrons pass through the outer circuit to generate electricity.

		Key achievements of this bio battery research and development

1) Technology to enhance immobilization of enzymes and mediator on the electrode

For effective glucose digestion to occur, the anode must contain a high concentration of enzymes and mediator, with their activity retained. This technology uses two polymers to attach these components to the anode. Each polymer has opposite charge so the electrostatic interaction between the two polymers effectively secures the enzymes and mediator. The ionic balance and immobilization process have been optimized for efficient electron extraction from the glucose.

2) Cathode structure for efficient oxygen absorption

Water content within the cathode is vital to ensuring optimum conditions for the efficient enzymatic reduction of oxygen. The bio battery employs porous carbon electrodes bearing the immobilized enzyme and mediator, which are partitioned using a cellophane separator. The optimization of this electrode structure and process ensures the appropriate water levels are maintained, enhancing the reactivity of the cathode.

3) Optimization of electrolytes to meet the bio battery cell structure

A phosphate buffer of approximately 0.1 M is generally used within enzymology research, however an unusually high 1.0 M concentration buffer is used in this bio battery. This is based on the discovery that such high concentration levels are effective for maintaining the activity of enzymes immobilized on the electrodes.

4) Test cell combining high-power output and compact size

The test cells of these high-power, compact bio batteries have been fabricated using these three technologies. The bio battery does not require mixing, or the convection of glucose solution or air; as it is a passive-type battery, it works simply by supplying sugar solution into the battery unit. The cubic (39 mm along each edge) cell produces 50 mW, representing the world's highest power output among passive-type bio batteries of comparable volume. By connecting four cubic cells, it is possible to power a memory-type Walkman (NW-E407) together with a pair of passive-type speakers (no external power source). The bio battery casing is made of vegetable-based plastic (polylactate), and designed in the image of a biological cell.

Google's first mobile phone will run a Linux operating system on a Texas Instruments "Edge" chipset, and will likely ship to T-Mobile and Orange customers in the Spring of 2008, according to unconfirmed reports. "GPhone" call minutes and text messages reportedly will be funded by mobile advertising.

News of the so-called "GPhone" or "G-Phone" broke quietly about two weeks ago in the island nation of Singapore, where Jennifer Tan of Reuters subsidiary Anian Research filed a report on July 12.

Tan cited "industry sources," "U.S. sources," and "manufacturing and component supply chain sources" in backing her assertion that after year-long delays finding a manufacturer, Google contracted Taiwan-based smartphone maker High Tech Computer (HTC) to design its phone hardware. HTC is best-known for its Windows Mobile smartphones, however, and Tan offered no conjecture about who might supply the phone's Linux-based operating system.

We believe Google would design a solution to facilitate greater use of Google Search and other applications like Google Talk, Gmail, Google Maps, encourage wireless video, and leverage this usage to hasten the market for mobile advertising."

Google itself has declined to comment on rumors it plans to produce a phone, Tan reported.

While we were already looking forward to the N800 Internet Tablet’s inevitable successor, it seems like Sprint may have something else in mind. According to LinuxDevices, the operator “will offer a mobile WiMAX-enabled version of Nokia’s N800 Internet Tablet to North American customers next year,” which reportedly falls in line with the carrier’s grand scheme of making 4G services available “to over 100 million people during 2008.” Furthermore, Nokia’s director of open source, Dr. Ari Jaaksi, was quoted as saying that this here device would “most probably” include WiFi and Bluetooth as well, but as expected, no details regarding a specific launch timeframe were divulged.

Here we go again kids. After all those notorious fires related to the batteries used by the world’s largest handset manufacturer, Nokia has issued a product advisory related to the BL-5C, Nokia-branded battery. That’s right, Nokia branded, not just those third-party knockoffs everyone had been pointing the finger at previously. A staggering 46 million batteries in fact, all manufactured by Matsushita (aka, Panasonic) between December 2005 and November 2006, are said to be at risk of “dislodge.” According to the release, “in very rare cases” the Nokia-branded BL-5C batteries could short circuit leading to an explosive burn. Nokia goes on to say that the danger only exists while charging the battery and of the 100 or so reported incidents, “no serious injuries or property damage have been reported.” Oh really? So the loss of a leg no longer constitutes serious injury? The BL-5C is one of just 14 different batteries used in Nokia products so be sure to check the list below to see if your phone is one of the 52 Nokia handsets affected. If you’re unlucky (or lucky, depending upon your viewpoint) enough to be affected, then Nokia will provide a replacement battery free of charge.

Believe it or not, Sony Ericsson’s P1i has one of the richest, most storied family trees in the smartphone world. Technically, it could be said that the phone can trace its roots all the way back to Psion’s EPOC-based organizers, but more practically, the P1i is a direct descendent of the R380, the first Symbian-powered phone and a device that made more than a few jaws drop with its versatile design and expansive touchscreen. Very little to say here but wow, this is one handsome-looking handset. The gents at dogorgod.com created this beautiful render of what they think the well-rumored Google device could potentially look like. We’re in love with the softkeys on this thing — very handy idea having context-sensitive keys that could change up depending on the current application or perhaps even for notification of incoming messages, calls and the like. Also note that there is a screen on the front and back (a la Samsung UpStage) but larger and more useful — we could see this being ideal for having messaging open one one side and your browser running on the other. We’re not quite sure what those tubes are for though, perhaps batteries? Even if this likely not even close to the mark, we’re really digging this dead-solid effort.

According to CNET, Cingular [aka, the new AT&T] has “confirmed” June 11 as the release date for Apple’s iPhone. Keep in mind that confirmation in this case is unofficial as it supposedly comes from a front-line sales support person. See, after a call to Cingular’s customer service, CNET was transfered to sales where they were told of the magical date. Of course, all this makes perfect sense as the 11th also marks the kickoff of Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference where Steve and Co are always keen to announce new wares.

The “Bracelet Phone” concept — is it the thinnest phone yet ?

Just when we think we’ve seen style in all things mobile, the cellphone comes out being almost completely redefined in some new perverse way. Although we have not yet seen the cellphone earring, Nokia’s Vertu luxury brand is swanky enough for pure enjoyment (at least for eye candy). Now, enter the cellphone bracelet. While this is not quite the concept the writers of Dick Tracy hand in mind, the “Bracelet Phone” vibrates slightly when it receives messages and calls. Movements past that point — you know, like to answer the call — require the wearer to take the “phone” off the neck and press a “diamond-like” stone to actually start conversing. We’re kinda iffy on whether this is an “elegant” solution like the manufacturer claims — but at least the m300 wristwatch phone is for real while this unit is a concept only right now, so elegance may have to wait. We’re also we’re told that the bracelet-phone has an MP3 player built into it; we’re really ready and waiting to see how text messaging works on this baby, though.
